Saving the planet is not profitable enough

Capitalism: an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit. Def. from Oxford Languages.

🌡To reduce Earth’s temperature to reach net zero → stop fossil fuels.

🔋To set renewable energies as the primary source of energy → unlock patents, invest in and subsidise these new companies.

⚖️To stop large-scale damage to ecosystems → recognise ecocide as a crime akin to genocide to deter decision-makers -corporate executives and politicians- from polluting decisions.

🌱To place sustainability as the first criterion of any economic or political decision → shift private owners' profit for Earth and humanity's existence.

🛍To replace over-consumption praise for conscious decision-making → reduce indiscriminate production and profits.

🤑To outlaw speculation on basic goods and commodities like food, water, energy and information → encourage sustainable, equitable practices with an innovative focus on resource conservation.

What have all the above in common? They dismantle our capitalist system principles as a way to mitigate the climate crisis.

Continuing business as usual means heading to a world we can’t predict, far beyond our adaption abilities.

Nothing is going to change if we don’t change it, but are we ready to do it? Do we want to do it? 🌏💚
